Title of the report: The Role of L. Vygotsky’s Theory in the Development of Modern Special Education and Psychology
Summary. The seminar is dedicated to revealing the role of the cultural and historical approach in the training of highly qualified personnel in the field of special pedagogy and psychology.
L. Vygotsky’s legacy includes more than two hundred works performed not only in the field of defectology, butalso in the psychology of art, general and age psychology, pedagogical and clinical psychology. It was experimental research in the field of special psychology that allowed L. Vygotsky to formulate a number of patterns of normal development, as well as to determine the content of many theoretical concepts (higher mentalfunctions, zone of proximal development, social situation of development, etc.), widely used in other fields of scientific knowledge.
There is a widespread opinion among experts that this theory applies exclusively to the field of correctionaland developmental work with children with disabilities.
The seminar will discuss the possibilities of implementing this approach in the field of higher education, including inclusive education.
